What does it mean to be part of conversations?

blog No Comments

What does it mean to be part of conversations? How can we be committed in relation to community and what that means for us.

Being part of church means that we have a responsibility to tell people about Jesus. Sometimes church can be a place where we don’t even want to talk to one another let alone feel prepared or willing to talk about God.

Why should we tell others?

So why should we tell others about Christianity and what we believe? Well the simple answer would be because Jesus tells us to.

Mathew 28 says “Jesus came and told his disciples “I have been given complete authority in Heaven and earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”

What about the church?

When most people hear the word Church they instantly think of the building or some people think of it as an outdated idea that has no relevance in society.

Acts 2:41-47 tells us about the first Church saying:

“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Joy In Spite of Life

Joy In Spite of Life

It can sometimes seem that the path our lives will take has already been set out before we even got here. Get born, learn to walk and talk, go to school, go to university, get a job, get married, have some kids, retire, die.

The journey through that path can be very eventful and for a lot of us the reality is that life is hard.

Is it possible to live real life and be joyful in spite of what is happening around us?

We are going to look at the book of Philippians to see what the apostle Paul has to say about life and joy.

We’ll be spending six weeks from March 24th 730pm.

Mar 24th – Joy in spite of Loneliness
Mar 31st – Joy in spite of Suffering
Apr 7th – Joy in spite of Temptation
Apr 14th – Joy in spite of Conflict
Apr 21st – Joy in spite of Exhaustion
Apr 28th – Joy in spite of Stress
